Scott Livengood is the former CEO of Krispy Kreme Corporation, which makes doughnuts. A native of Salisbury, North Carolina, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-educated man started working for Krispy Kreme in 1977, then a privately held company based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was given the position of president of the company, moving to CEO in 1998, then Chairman of the Board in the following year. Livengood oversaw the IPO of Krispy Kreme on the NASDAQ, and the switch to the NYSE about a year later. 2005 saw the removal of Livengood from his position as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigated Krispy Kreme for accounting indiscretions. Following his resignation, Livengood remained involved with the company as a high paid consultant until new CEO, Stephen Cooper, ended this arrangement.
Livengood has three children and one stepchild and resides in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with his wife and stepdaughter. He is the main sponsor of the Scott and Michelle Livengood Center at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC.
He is currently a named defendant in a large class action lawsuit against him and Krispy Kreme alleging misreporting of profit information. Livengood has also been named; Worst CEO of the Year (2004)" by Herb Greenberg of CBS MarketWatch. [1]
